The making of the Art. Lebedev Studio’s Big Café poster

Overview   Process

First we need to take as many pictures of the interior as possible. And not only of interesting details but also of unremarkable ones—everything will come in handy.

mibk poster process 01

Arranging the pictures in folders.

mibk poster process 02

Putting floor plans in order.

mibk poster process 03

Building models to help us find the best perspective.

mibk poster process 04

Looking for the perspective. Since it’s only a draft, we don’t sweat over reproduction accuracy of the objects: right now they only match in size.

mibk poster process 05

Drawing room lines in Illustrator.

mibk poster process 06

Always checking with the photographs not to leave out the interesting stuff.

mibk poster process 07

Drawing furniture lines based on the draft and the photographs. Paying special attention to details: almost every chair or table is unique.

mibk poster process 08

The furniture is ready.

mibk poster process 09

Trying to imagine what the illustration will look like on a poster and what the characters will be doing.

mibk poster process 10

Time to color the rooms. For now, without the furniture.

mibk poster process 11

Now the furniture.

mibk poster process 12

And the details.

mibk poster process 13

Once it’s done, moving on to the characters.

mibk poster process 14

Adding captions, choosing products, placing logos and opening hours.

Done.
