The making of the World Whale and Dolphin Day poster

Coming up with the idea (The text reads “Happy Dolphin Protection Day”).

Making the illustration nicer.

Project manager: How about we make the detectives look like the ones from True Detective? Fans of the series will like it.

Designer: OK.

Suddenly the editor delivers the bad news: the name of the holiday is entirely different: it’s simply World Whale and Dolphin Day. No protection there. Though there is the World Cetacean Protection Day, but it is celebrated in February. The poster be fine for it, but the world play with the word “protection” is not going to work.

So, a difficult choice: either we hold the finished poster until February or we come up with something else for the World Whale and Dolphin Day.

We decide to invent something new.
