Task: to refresh and republish the book with a new layout .

The third edition of The Publisher’s and Author’s Handbook is updated and extended, its appendixes in particular. Since the release of the previous edition (Moscow, 2003), many of the regulations have changed. All these changes are carefully reflected by the book and the author in his recommendations.

Milchin and Cheltsova’s Handbook is a must-have for every editor and imposer here at the Studio. Art directors and designers consult it rather frequently, and our technologists use it when writing scripts with automatic typographic features.

Arkady Milchin (1924–2014), the leading author of the Handbook, was a famous book expert, Doctor of Philology, for many years Editor-in-Chief at Kniga Publishing House, with extensive experience in the field. He is well-known among writers and publishers as the author of various handbooks and professional guides. His books and articles have educated several generations of editors, correctors and other publishing specialists.
