Vneshtorgbank is Russia’s largest commercial bank in terms of the charter capital totaling RUR42.1bln. The Russian government holds 99.1% of the bank’s stocks.

As of March 1, 2003 the bank’s own capital was RUR61bln, net assets—RUR198bln. Net profit was RUR4.1bln in January-February 2003.

Vneshtorgbank is one of the leading creditors of Russia’s economy. The bank’s credit investments in the non-financial sector were RUR85.6bln as of March 1, 2003. Vneshtorgbank was rated the world’s 174th largest bank in terms of capital—the best rating among the banks of Eastern and Western Europe, according to the 2001 list of the world’s top 1000 banks prepared by The Banker.
