Yana Frank

I wanted to be an artist since childhood, but having majored in advertising graphics I had worked as a web designer and art director for 10 years. I filled my works with many illustrations and drew comic strips whenever I had free time, but realized pretty soon it wasn’t enough.

I quit working as a designer and all I do now is draw. I have always been inspired by old artists’ works, although my illustrations have a “contemporary” look. The most beautiful solutions used in modern illustrations and comics can be traced back to Japanese Ukiyo-e paintings, while plenty of useful ideas for painting pictures in Photoshop can be borrowed from the Renaissance artists’ paintings.

I use brushes and ink to draw on writing paper and acryl on canvas and primed cardboard. Customers love me, because there’s nothing I wouldn’t draw: weapons, cars, animals and nude women, illustrations for vague stories, abstract texts and fancy poetry.
