Mobile devices have long been capable of taking clear photos, saving them in they gallery and tagging them by location and time. The next step is to teach them to use images for practical purposes: scanning and recognizing text, identifying document types and converting between formats. The designers at Kampus have developed a concept for an app that easily performs all these functions.

The background grid serves as a metaphor for a photo reel, where icons of documents—or photo notes—are placed. The app’s logo is styled to resemble one of the interface buttons.
Before starting, a welcome screen is displayed with short video clips that introduce the user to the app’s functionality. The bottom part of the screen is reserved for concise descriptions of work procedures and interface elements.

The main screen includes everything needed to get started: a search button, a list of albums, a settings tool and a large blue plus sign for adding new photo notes.

Source images are selected from the gallery and imported into the app for further processing. At the very top is a folder selection button and options for creating a photo note.

When a photo note is created using the camera, the category and album for storing the original are intuitively chosen with the help of suggested prompts.

Photos can be viewed in a grid mode, allowing users to understand the contents of a category at a glance.

Each image description includes the title, date and location of the photo. When a photo is expanded to full screen, a carousel appears at the bottom to help users easily navigate through the album.
