Mandership by Artemy Lebedev

In 1997 Artemy Lebedev set about writing chapters for his future book about design. A year had passed, but there was not enough material to make a book. So he started to publish the chapters on the studio’s website. In the elapsed 10 years the number of sections has grown so much that publishing them in a book seemed just natural.

For the paper edition, illustrations have been updated, the sections have been revised and partially rewritten.

“Mandership” does not offer ready-to-use how-tos of design success. Instead it provides food for thought. How to use it—at a fine set table with good wine, or gulping up from a paper plate—is up to the reader.
