The making of the Sign in Strezhevoy

Overview   Process   Real Life

Getting the installation approval from the mayor.

That’s what the city’s coat of arms looks like.

Art director: That doesn’t look beautiful at all.

Maybe with a pine cone?

Art director: It might work, but you seem to favor hardcore backgrounds too much. The text must be read easily.

Muting the colors to increase legibility.

The art director chooses draft number 7 as it looks warmer. But the purple color needs to be toned down a bit more.

Art director: OK.

The client asks to replace the pine cone with animals: chipmunks, bears, foxes.

Art director: The second one is OK.

The illustrator helps draw the animals.

Art director: OK.
