The retail chain Magnit was founded in 1994 in Krasnodar. The company leads in revenue among food retailers in Russia and continues to grow.
For this nationwide chain, we designed a new logo and developed a custom typeface, now featured on signage, interiors, wayfinding systems and advertising across all Magnit supermarkets.

The new logo is simpler and cleaner. We managed to refresh the brand’s image while preserving its recognizable nature and emphasizing its simplicity and friendliness.
The new symbol combines the letter M with the brand’s signature petal, representing the natural origin and eco-friendliness of the products.
To support the design across all store locations, we created Magnitus, a friendly neo-grotesque typeface filled with interesting and fresh details. Just like the goods on the shelves!
Magnitus fits seamlessly into the wayfinding system and looks great across advertising materials.

Special attention was paid to the Cyrillic characters: soft, rounded letters reflect openness and the broad, welcoming nature of Russian culture.

The distinctive shapes of the capital A and E make the lettering feel especially fitting in a retail environment.

Given the wide geographical spread of the chain, we also drew characters for the Bashkir, Tatar, Chuvash, Mari, Udmurt and Komi-Zyrian alphabets.
