Tolstoy Typeface
Tolstoy is a decorative display typeface we created specifically for Lev Tolstoy University and which is based on the handwriting of the great writer.

The sharpness and expressiveness of the typeface are achieved through pointed, rounded ovals and long, angular extenders.

All main vertical strokes and ovals share a consistent 45-degree slant—just like in Tolstoy’s handwriting.

In handwriting, the same letter can look different depending on its position—the classic author did this as well. That’s why in the Tolstoy typeface, the letters З (Z) and У (U) look differently in open and closed positions.
