Public transport Shelters

Noyabrsk public transport stop shelters

Overview
Task: to design comfortable shelters for a Siberian city.

Noyabrsk is located in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District where winter lasts from October to April. The city has around twenty bus routes, and the main element of their infrastructure are bus stop shelters. To make sure passengers don’t freeze while waiting for their bus, a ready-made model of a shelter was reworked and adapted for the severe climate in the studio.

The design uses the Noyabrsk public transport identity created by the studio, which helps the stops stand out against the white snow.

Each shelter is divided into an enclosed warm area and an open cold area. Inside are smartphone chargers and Wi-Fi. There is also a 112 panic button that can be used in case of an emergency.

A light sensor turns on the lights at night.

The name of the stop is printed on the frieze in large type and can be easily seen from a distance.

Inside the warm part is a bus schedule which was completely retypeset in the studio.

A total of five heated shelters were installed, one on Mira Avenue and the rest on Vysotsky Street.
