Design code of the Myriads residential district
ENKO is building on the northeast of Tyumen a future residential district consisting of eighteen blocks — with its own lakes and groves, schools and play areas, kindergartens and bicycle parking, squares and entertainment centers. The studio developed the design code for this city within a city under construction, taking into account the main features of Myriads: the ring structure, varying building heights, abundance of greenery, and proximity to nature.
A detailed three-volume document describes the architecture of the district, the rules for placing signs and advertising structures, and also contains general principles of improvement. Compliance with the design code helps create a harmonious look of a place ideal for living.
Architectural concept
The space is divided into several layers, but it is important that all buildings in it are perceived comprehensively. The section devoted to architecture explains how to make the development attractive and harmonious. Therefore, the Outer Ring, the Dreamers’ District, the Park Ring, and the Oasis, although they have their own features, still look like a single whole.
Free boulevard
The concept of the central boulevard is based on the priority of pedestrians. We reduced the number of parking spaces to a minimum, carefully integrating them into the street structure. But there are more than enough cafes and shops in the center.

People relax, go shopping, and also ride bicycles and scooters along special paths.

The main accent is the pedestrian bridge: rising above the ground, it connects the boulevard with the Green River and forms a complete image of the space.

Green crossings near the squares support the logic of an “urban park” and visually narrow the roadway. The speed of traffic decreases and the level of safety, accordingly, increases. In essence, the boulevard turns into a long chain of pedestrian zones.

Advertising and signs
To organize the placement of advertising structures on building facades, the studio compiled clear and understandable recommendations. Compliance with them helps reduce the level of visual noise and significantly improve the perception of the urban environment. The exploded view format makes it possible to show the structures as comprehensively as possible.
Permitted media are universal solutions that are easily integrated into the exteriors of any modern residential complexes.

Navigation
Three types of navigation media are used in Myriads: address and information plates, as well as navigation pointers. The pages of the design code describe their permissible sizes, layouts, and all possible combinations.

The names of streets, parks, and squares indicated by the media were also invented in the studio. Now a simple walk around the settlement itself becomes a source of positive emotions.

The signature star pattern decorates the ends of light boxes, adding mystery to the signs and once again referring to the name of the residential complex.

Improvement
The studio also developed rules for the improvement of the Green River — a natural closed system in which urban infrastructure facilities are linked by a linear park. At the heart of the concept is the division of the Green River into “vectors” and their unification with the help of a gradient.

Everyday life
The territory of everyday life is the plots in the southern part of the complex beyond the everyday zones.
The territory of everyday life is not designed for leisurely walks. Usually residents quickly pass through it, forming the main vector of pedestrian traffic. All the improvement of the zone emphasizes the angular shape of the territories in the lower part of the gradient.

Development
The territory of development is formed in the middle part of the residential block around a space for learning, leisure, and personal growth.
This is a transition between everyday life and spirituality. Residents use the zone both as a transit and as a leisure area. This determines the principles of improvement of the middle part of the gradient: it supports “casual” rest but does not forget about the transit nature of the zone.

Spirituality
The territory of spirituality is formed in the upper part of the residential block next to spiritual-enlightenment and social facilities.
The territory of spirituality is intended for quiet walks. Here everyday life does not disturb the flight of thought. In this zone residents walk measuredly, without thinking about what worries them in normal times. Therefore, the zone is permeated with winding paths, and people move smoothly here, tuning their minds to a calm mood.

Winters in Tyumen are long and harsh. Therefore, rules taking into account the change of seasons were added to the design code. For example, heating is provided in covered pavilions.
Journals
The three parts of the document are neatly laid out and printed in the format of beautiful journals: about the visual perception of facades, the placement of signs and advertising media, and also about improvement.

The Savage typeface combines perfectly with the logo of the block and looks great on the pages.

An unconventional grid provides for the displacement of headings relative to the main text. This makes it much easier to navigate a large volume of information.
Color coding, actively used in the design code, simplifies navigation in the space and facilitates the study of the document.
Spreads with examples of how not to do things are filled with small pictures and highlighted with red gradients. The prohibition is obvious.

Good examples are shown larger; they are accompanied by colorful renderings and large photographs.

The “good — bad” pairs are laid out in a mirrored way. The difference is visible instantly.

For each type of structure, materials and the permissible color scheme are indicated, and small explanatory drawings are also provided.
