TVEL industrial facility façades and interiors

TVEL is part of the fuel division of Rosatom. TVEL supplies nuclear fuel to Russian power plants and provides fuel for marine and research reactors. The company is also involved in non-nuclear projects. Chemistry, metallurgy and digital technologies are areas in which TVEL develops next-generation products. The studio has designed the façades of the company’s production and non-production buildings, as well as the interiors for them.

Façades

The exterior of the buildings is decorated with a pattern inspired by the schematic of a heat-generating assembly. Bundles of zirconium elements, in the studio’s rendition, transform into mesmerizing geometric shapes that assemble into a unified, intricate system.

The pattern is applied to the façades of the production buildings using large-format printing on film.

A similar pattern adorns the friezes of non-production buildings. The same overall style is used for the enclosures of external air conditioning units. As a result, the external ducts of the split systems are successfully concealed, making the façades more aesthetic and diverse.

There are single-story buildings on the site that have been renovated or had extensions added, giving them non-standard shapes. To make these buildings appear as unified structures, new façades made of fiber concrete blocks are created around the existing ones.

Special elements were designed to conceal utilities. Historically valuable buildings received unique design treatments.

Interiors

tvel interiors

The studio’s designers and architects have designed the corridors of the administrative and medical buildings. Now, these spaces have a soft atmosphere, occasionally enlivened by bright accents.

The interior spaces are also decorated with a pattern—entirely different in appearance but just as stylish and textured.

The reception area in the medical building is combined with the waiting area and cloakroom. Warm, natural materials in light tones and the original ceiling decor create a particularly cozy atmosphere, while still being durable and eco-friendly.

In the waiting areas, everything is designed for visitors’ comfort and relaxation: there is plenty of light, and the sofas and chairs further help guests unwind before seeing the doctor.
